Sticky Situation is the second episode of Season 2 of Mako Mermaids.
Synopsis[]
With Evie now a mermaid, Ondina and Mimmi try a dangerous spell to change her back to human form, but the results are less than ideal.
Plot[]
With Evie having a hard time adapting to her new life as a mermaid, Mimmi decides to use a shapeshifting spell from within Rita's grotto to turn Evie back to normal. The spell, however, doesn't work and, as a result, Evie is covered in a pink slime which keeps her stuck in her mermaid form. Zac hides Evie in the café's refrigeration room and then runs off to stop the spellcasting while Cam and Sirena keep Carly and the new waiter, Erik, from entering the room and seeing Evie with a tail. When Ondina and Mimmi stubbornly refuse to stop, Zac has no choice but to stop them by force. He succeeds and the two mermaids reluctantly agree to collaborate with Evie in the future.

- In this episode, Mimmi is revealed to be a Northern mermaid. According to Ondina, mermaids from northern pods have knowledge of some of the most powerful spells known to their kind.
- The events of this episode takes place the day after Evie finds out she has transformed into a mermaid in The Seventh Cycle.
- Zac explains to Evie that he stopped bathing conventionally since he became a merman; all his time in merman form substitutes for it.
- Presumably the salt in the ocean works as a deodorizer, otherwise Zac would still need deodorant for the lack of using soap.
- The spell likely would have worked had Mimmi just explained the plan to Evie and had her in the same place as her. Her lack of foresight is due to not knowing what humans are up to daily; she could have easily exposed their existence due to this blunder.
- While due to a glitch in the spell, this is first time a mermaid is seen with their tail and a regular shirt.
- Evie's hair bizarrely becomes dried when the spell glitches and changes her top half back; even though it was "wet" previously.
- Meaning the Transformation water isn't just a visual of the magic. It REALLY makes mermaids damp.
- Cam discovers that Evie became a mermaid.
